General Conference--A GREAT Time to Rotate 72-Hour Kits

It is 4 weeks until October General Conference.  I have found Conference a great benchmark for me to rotate my 72 hour kit because it always happens at the same time, no matter what.  When was the last time you checked your kits?  Do all the clothes still fit that went in there?  I know that I happened to check my clothes this last April and surprisingly the clothes I put in there after I had my first baby don't fit now that I have had my fifth (hmmmmm).  Do you have food that expired 5 years ago?  I know I went through my parents' 72 hour kits and their food was from a kit that my mom made when I was 15 (no, I'm not going to tell you how long ago that was)!  I don't think you could make anyone eat that, even if it is an emergency.

Now is the time to organize your ward.  Talk to your Relief Society President or Provident Living Specialist in your ward.  Organize your ward to make food packets.  It doesn't take much work on your part (passing around a sign up and collecting money).  I calculate how much food your ward will need, purchase it, deliver it to you, and stay as your ward members put together their kits.  If there isn't a time to have ward members put together their food packets, for $1 more per packets I will package the food packets for you and drop them off for the ward members to pick up.
