Advanced 72 Hour Kit--Week 13--Shoes. . .

Imagine yourself sleeping peacefully in your bed in the middle the night. All of a sudden the ground starts shaking (or the tornado sirens go off) and you need to get to a safe spot. Then there is the realization that you will need to leave your home so you gather your family to get ready to leave and there is a scramble. Broken glass from windows, pictures is everywhere and you are searching for shoes. It happens even if there isn’t an emergency (at least in my house) we need to leave and I hear, “Mom, where is my other shoe?” We remedy this (most of the time) in our house by having one spot for shoes; every time we come home we put our shoes on the shoe rack. I know a family who keeps all shoes in their garage. Whatever works for your family, find a central spot for your shoes—not just sandals, but sturdy shoes. Then there won’t be a scramble for shoes when you don’t have the time.
