Every 72 hour kit should have a current family photo (with names on the back), important numbers, and an out-of-state contact.
The current family photo with names is in case anyone in your family gets separated, you will have a way to show a picture to others. It is also a comfort item in case someone gets separated; they have a family who loves them who is trying to find them.
Important numbers will vary from family to family but they might include cell phone and land-line numbers for family members, phone numbers for nearest relatives, neighbor phone numbers, work numbers, etc.
An out-of-state contact is essential; this is the person that you will contact in case of an emergency. Often in an emergency local phone service is disrupted but out-of-state service is fine. In case of separation the out-of-state contact will be able to receive and deliver messages and help to reunite family members.
