Basic 72 Hour Kit--Week 3--Hand Sanitizer

Have you ever been camping or outside all day long and look down at your hands and wonder, “What is on my hands?” Now imagine that you are in the midst of an emergency and everything around you is nothing close to normal, what will your hands look like then? Will you want to eat anything that your hands touch? Now that you have that lovely visual in your mind (sorry if you are eating) think how nice it would be to have some hand sanitizer in your 72 hour kit. Keeping your hands clean will go a long way to keeping you healthy and (in my case) happy.

Hand sanitizer can be found in small containers at the dollar store or in the travel size aisle at grocery stores. I stock up at the beginning of the school year because most stores have small bottles of hand sanitizer on sale. I found mine at Target for a $1 and I keep one in my purse, one in the car, and one in each of our 72 hour kits. I put my bottle of hand sanitizer in a zipper baggie in the 72 hour kits just in case it receives too much pressure and explodes. I don’t want hand sanitizer all over in my kit.
