Welcome

Welcome to 72 hour kit food packets!  I hope you will find all the information that you need while you are here.  If you are interested in more information about food packets click here.  I will be doing short weekly postings on facebook and referring to this blog for additional information.  If you can't wait until next week (or several weeks) to see all of the items I recommend in a 72 hour kit then go to the tabs at the top of the page and link to each posting.

I have three separate levels of 72 hour kits.  The Basic level is for those starting out, just to make sure you have something!  Once you have this basic kit then you can jump to the next level.  Adding the items from Mid-Grade level will bring some extra things that will either bring more comfort or be prepared for different emergencies.  The Advanced level are for those who want to be prepared for anything.  If your 72 hour kits have everything from the Basic, Mid-Grade, and Advanced levels then you will feel well prepared for any emergency.

Every spring I rotate the food that is in my 72 hour kit.  I do this for 2 reasons:

1.  It forces me to check through my kits and make sure everything is still good and current, especially that clothes still fit.
2.  My children (and let's face it, me too) don't really eat 600 calorie protein bars and it would mess with their systems.  I want foods that they recognize and will bring them comfort in an uncomfortable and possibly scary situation.
